Brad Shwer Founding Member of Raceway Charities Winner’s Circle

Thorpe Shwer attorney, Brad Shwer, has become a founding Board member of Raceway Charities Winner’s Circle, a charitable organization that provides financial assistance to a variety of other worthwhile charities across Arizona, choosing a charity each year that is in particular need of financial help. In addition, Raceway Winner’s Circle works with ISM Raceway to provide scholarships to students at Arizona State University who are focused on motorsports communication and marketing. Thorpe Shwer is proud to partner with ISM Raceway and Raceway Charities Winner’s Circle, as well as other Phoenix-area community organizations.

Brad Shwer is a 2018 Sun Devil 100 Honoree

Thorpe Shwer attorney, Brad Shwer, has been selected as a 2018 Sun Devil 100 honoree by Arizona State University.  Sun Devil 100 celebrates the achievements of Arizona State University alumni who own or lead successful, innovative businesses across the globe. Spanning industries and locations, ASU entrepreneurs possess a history of enterprise, vision and leadership. This special awards program was instituted to invite these innovative leaders back to campus for a celebration in their honor. The Sun Devil 100 Class of 2018 is an elite group of talented business leaders who exemplify the spirit of ASU as the New American University.    

Thorpe Shwer Celebrates the 20th Anniversary of the John J. Rhodes Lecture

Thorpe Shwer attorney, Adam Reich, helped organize the 20th Anniversary John J. Rhodes Lecture in Public Policy and American Institutions, presented by the Barrett Honors College of Arizona State University. This year’s lecture entitled: “Arizona Politics: The Past, Present, and Future,” held on March 28, 2018, featured Arizona Senator Jeff Flake and Retired Arizona Senator Jon Kyl. The John J. Rhodes Chair in Public Policy and American Institutions in Barrett, The Honors College at Arizona State University, celebrates the career of public service of one of Arizona’s and the nation’s most distinguished leaders. The Rhodes Chair is dedicated to deepening theoretical and practical understanding of the many voices and forces that influence public policy. The Chair honors the values of personal integrity, fiscal responsibility, respect for persons, and international farsightedness exemplified in the Honorable John J. Rhodes’ career.

Thorpe Shwer Goes to the Dogs

On March 25, 2018, Thorpe Shwer attorneys including AHS Board Member, Andrea Marconi, helped the Arizona Humane Society celebrate and raise money for Valley pets at the 20th Annual Compassion With Fashion event. Thanks to the generosity of over 1,200 donors and animal lovers in attendance, the Arizona Humane Society raised a remarkable $1.1 million to support our pet paramedics, trauma hospital, and other lifesaving programs and services. That’s enough to help save the lives of more than 1,200 homeless pets in our community! Thorpe Shwer is proud to support the Arizona Humane Society and many other Phoenix-area community organizations.

Trevor Cox Joins Thorpe Shwer

Thorpe Shwer is proud to announce the addition of Trevor D. Cox as a litigation associate. Trevor practices in the areas of complex civil, commercial, business, personal tort, and franchise litigation. Trevor is an experienced trial lawyer having represented large corporations as well as individuals in high stakes litigation and trial in state and federal courts around the country.

Phoenix Children’s Hospital “Off the Record” Event

Thorpe Shwer attorney Brad Shwer helped organize the “Off The Record” event benefiting Phoenix Children’s Hospital on November 11, 2017 that featured live music from emerging country star Chris Janson. Brad is a Founding Member and current President-Elect of the PCH50, also known as “The Fifty,” which has a mission to harness the energy, enthusiasm and experience of 50 driven community leaders as the next generation supporters of Phoenix Children’s Hospital through financial fundraising, volunteer efforts, and awareness building. Thorpe Shwer is proud to support Phoenix Children’s Hospital and other community organizations in the Phoenix area.

Thorpe Shwer Obtains Stipulated Dismissal in Vicarious Liability Action Against Public Official

Attorneys Andrea Marconi, André Merrett, and Kristin Paiva obtained a stipulated dismissal for a public official in a high-profile case stemming from allegations of sexual misconduct committed by a university assistant coach. The complaint alleged that Thorpe Shwer’s client was liable for actions or omissions allegedly taken during the investigation of Plaintiff’s claims. After filing a motion for summary judgment on the basis of qualified immunity, Plaintiff agreed to a stipulated dismissal of the client.
